What do you think of Pre-Paid legal? And their false advertising! And ripping poor innocent people o

I recently had a legal question and was looking on-line. I entered my info in and within minutes my phone rang. This person was so nice and said after I paid the small $25 fee she could have my simple question answered...So basically nothing but frustration, time spent, hours wasted, grey hairs grown, and now I am out $15,000..Just wondering who else experienced this or am I just simply wrong about them? Oh and the $$$ was with a different legal counsel.

PARALEGALS. THAT'S ALL THOSE AZZHOLES ARE.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

AND IT SUCKS

THE "ATTORNEYS" ARE NOT MUCH DIFFERENT THAN DISGRUNTLED CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS. SNAPPING AT YOU AT TIMES AND GIVING CRAP CHUTE ANSWERS THAT ARE IN FAVOR OF THOSE GIVING YOU THE PROBLEM.

REAL ATTORNEYS HAVE CLASS AND LISTEN TO YOU WITHOUT JUMPING IN AND MAKING YOU FEEL STUPID. THERE ARE FRIVELOUS LAWSUITS OUT THERE BUT THE ONES THAT ARE LEGIT ARE BEING IGNORED AND OFTEN THE ADVICE IS TO "BEND OVER" AND TAKE IT.

SCREW THEM!

You should be careful when someone guarantees you something after they get your credit card. Now you can either sue them for false advertising, time lost, and emotional damage but the question is would you trust another law firm again? If you want legal council free online forums like yahoo answers are a better place to start.

I would report them to the BBB and get a real lawyer.

I've belonged to a prepaid legal plan for years and have always had good luck with their plan attorneys in Ohio, Texas, and Illinois. They've always referred me to a "real" attorney who practices locally. These attorneys have provided me with the information necessary to get what I wanted in legal disputes before they got to the "I'll see you in court" stage.

Did you research this particular one before giving them your money? The BBB has a free website just for that purpose.

Without knowing the merits of your case, no one can say whether you would be out $15,000 even if you hadn't used this particular prepaid plan. The only way to know is to take your case to another attorney.

***EDIT: PM4, to follow your line of thinking, that means that any attorney who wants a retainer up front is obviously a bad attorney since they want to be prepaid. Not true! Also, hiring an attorney through a prepaid plan for cases that go to court isn't free; you pay a reduced rate because the attorney has a contract with the prepaid legal company. A doctor is paid a reduced rate because he has a contract with a health insurance company. So I suppose that all doctors who take health insurance are bad doctors too.

Legal counsel wants "pre-pay" because their service is no good and if it was based on their results they wouldn't make anything.

they are not supposed to charge you a concultation fee.prepaid is normally a very good deal. i used them a few times and i was never out a dime. if you feel you were ripped off then look for the ppl main number and call and complain

You don't explain how you go from $25 to $15k. Seems like you're comparing two different things, one the service of a website, and the other the service of an actual lawyer. Of course there's going to be a big difference in cost, especially since the lawyer is generally more experienced, and knowledgeable.

  1. Wonderful article on prepaid legal.

I did come across a blog http://israel.buildlastingsuccess.com. It’s all about starting home business based on insurance and legal plans for a 36 year old cash-rich company. It is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange, and reports directly to the Securities & Exchange Commission. Their 15 consecutive years of RECORD growth... is 100% verifiable!

    Thanks,
