Am I goth?

I wear black nail polish, I wear sometimes dark shirt, but just regular jeans, I have converse, I shop at American Eagle/hollister/Abercrombie and Charlotte Russe. I wear black or brown eyeliner and sometimes dark grey eyeshadow. and my hair is just naturally dark brown with highlights.

Both my sister's call me goth and my nephew asked me if I think that black nail polish makes me look prettier.

Do YOU think I'm goth?

Am I goth?

Being gothic is more than just a fashion statement, it's a state of mind.

The fact that you're even asking this proves that you aren't gothic.

Am I goth?

NO!

Goths are wayyy more darker than that.

If you must label yourself, you're 'emo', or 'scene'.

But dont label yourself.

Or you could call yourself a 'poser' before other people do.

I know your not but other people might think you are.

EDIT:

NO I AM NOT CALLING YOU A POSER! Its just that people are going to label you that anyways. So I think its funny when someone asks you "Wat are you? Emo or something?" Its funny to say "If I label myself, I'm a poser."

yah.

Am I goth?

no, it's just your personal style.

Am I goth?

no....you dont even shop at hottopic.

Am I goth?

not at all ! especially if you're shopping at hollister/american eagle/abercrombine %26amp; charlotte russe. I would describe gothic as..black baggy jeans with chains on them, black top, black hair, black nails %26amp; pale. But black nail polish is very in and trendy now days. I'd say you just know your fashion :) kudos to you!

Am I goth?

no,definately not.i don't think i've ever heard of 'goths' that shop at places like abercrombie..i'm sure they wouldn't be caught dead there. black nail polish is cute anyway ^___^

so yeah.i'd just ignore them.

Am I goth?

no, welcome to individuality! Catagories are just guidelines to a style but not what you are. Janet Jackson wore black for the first half of her career and she is far from goth.

Am I goth?

most styles are based on music...

heavy metal rock and other stuff

like that may mean your goth.

i wear black nailpolish too..

i dont think thats what makes you goth..

if you wear those really baggy pants with chains from stores

like hot topic...

you might be goth.

but theres nothing wrong with that..

fer surrree =)

Am I goth?

I heard somewhere that goth is a religion so unless that's your religion you're not goth. Also don't start going along with people when they say you're goth. STAND UP FOR YOUR SELF!

Am I goth?

No, you're not. Being goth has nothing to do with what clothes you wear or music you listen to, it is a way of thinking and seeing the world. The clothes that goths wear and the music that goths listen to is just a reflection of that mindset. Goths see that there is extreme pain and evil in the world, along with the good. Instead of condemning it or ignoring it, goths accept these things as a part of life and try and enjoy the good along with the bad, since they can't stop the bad from happening. They are not obsessed with death, they just accept it as an inevitability. They do not try and cause more pain in their (or anybody else's) lives, since there is plenty to start with. Goths tend to be kind, intelligent, non-violent, emotional, and artistic.

Am I goth?

Obviously not. LOL, you don't even listen to Goth music, from what I've read.

Even the preppiest of preps wear black nail polish if it matches their outfit, seeing as it's a trend.

Maybe research Goth, and say "Do I MATCH this? No? Then Shaddup!" =P

Am I goth?

No, I do not think you are goth.

Am I goth?

wow your sisters are dumb do they even know what a goth is? just cuz you listen to A7X doesn't mean you are goth. i even wear bondage pants and i am not goth, i'm a metalhead but poeple are too ignorant and shallow and judge someone by how they look. so... you are not goth

Am I goth?

There is much more to goth then clothes, Ophelia described it well. I just want to point out that many of the fashions described as goth in the answers are heavy metal fashions, and not actually part of gothic culture. Also, many goths (if we're going to use labels) find the Hot Topic look and the bands and styles of music associated with it far too mainstream.
